Team in Training! Time to Decide......

Last night I attended an information session for Team in Training here in Wilmington, NC.  Team in Training started in 1988 and has grown substantially over the years.   Their focus is to raise as much money as possible for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, an organization that is committed to finding a cure for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma by doing research and helping families dealing with these illnesses. Since the start of TNT, they have trained more than half a million athletes and raised more than 1.2 billion dollars.

By becoming a member of TNT, you choose an endurance event, such as the Disney marathon weekend races, a triathlon, or a 100 mile bike ride.  Local coaches and mentors will assist you in your journey to complete your athletic challenge and help with fundraising.

I am trying to make up my mind if I can make this commitment.  Are you a member of Team in Training?  Can you share your experience with us?

  1. I haven't run with Team in Training, but I recently ran with Team Challenge which is the endurance team for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America. It was an absolutely wonderful experience and I would highly recommend it. I'm assuming Team in Training has a similar program where you get coaching and fundraising support, and all of your travel and race expenses are covered.
I think you should totally go for it!

  2. It was great to meet you Thursday night, Pam! Of course I'm biased since I've been involved with TNT for 11 years, but it's truly a great program and one of the best things I've ever done. I hope you'll sign up!

  3. Hi:
I am fundraising for Team in Training. But I do it by flex because I don't live near a chapter. That means I don't get the group runs or fundraising events and do it all on my own. I love the running and I love the fundraising. I have not been able to reach my goal as of yet. This was my 2nd try! It is hard to get fundraising going unless u are really connected to others and the community! (mind you I think in Canada the minimum is $1000 more). BUT it is so worth it. Some people have shared such personal stories with me and it makes it so real!! And from other events I have attended on my own it looks like the TNT support is amazing out there for their team mates :)
GOOD LUCK :) There are TONS of people doing it though and I'm sure your chapter would be awesome!!
