Training Tuesday: Virtual Support

One of the things that I love about blogging and the online running community is the endless support and encouragement.  There are plenty of folks to answer questions, celebrate your successes and offer encouragement after a crummy race or training run.  Since I don't have a consistent training buddy, I find the online community a great resource for me.  Even my Mom and I are essentially virtual training buddies since we live 4 hours apart. 

Given my love for the virtual running community, I figured I would share some of my fav online resources:
1. Sunday night runner chats on twitter at 8pm Eastern every other week.  Just follow the hash tag #runchat.  TONS of runners asking and answering questions - great resource!

2. Facebook - there are TONS of running and runDisney groups on facebook. Here are my favs - Disney Princess Half Marathon Group, Disney's Marathon Weekend Group, and the runDisney page.

3. Training Plan resources.  I talked about my favorite online resources in a past post - lots of Galloway and Higdons info on the web.

4. Disboards WISH (We're Inspired to Stay Healthy)- Another great online resource, if you prefer the message board format, for more motivation and tips. 

5. Websites - Jeff Galloway, Runner's World, and Shape are my favorites for nutrition, training tips and cross-training ideas.

  1. Great post! I agree that the virtual community is a huge boost when training and I love how it unites us as a community of runners (and runDisney runners). Happy training
