Women's Races....many to choose from!

As a female runner, I appreciate all the women's races available to us. There are many including the Divas Half marathon series, ZOOMA womens race series, Lady Speed Stick SeriesDisney's Princess Half marathon and Tinkerbell Half marathon, and 26.2 with Donna marathon. Although some of these races also allow men to participate, the emphasis is on the women runners and the atmosphere on race day and at the Expo is fantastic. Next year, I plan to try one of the Diva races ( Myrtle Beach, anyone else coming?) and also a ZOOMA race. My first half marathon was the Disney Princess in 2011.The fifth anniversary of this race will take place in 2013 and we are all signed up to participate.  Below are the medals we are hope to add to our collection.  Please tell us if you have a a favorite women's race.

  1. Nike Women's half marathon! Who wouldn't want a medal (Tiffany's necklace) that you can wear everyday without getting funny looks??

  2. I am probably doing the Divas Half in Myrtle Beach! The only problem is that my running partner is my boyfriend and I have been reading that, while allowed, it is frowned upon for men to enter women's races so I may be flying solo for that one.

  3. I did Tink, doing Princess 2013, want to do Diva - either Myrtle Beach or Long Island. I also want to do a Dirty Girl 5km mud run and an Iron Girl. And I do love the LadySpeedstick Women's half medals :) So fun. But I too need to travel to them all and like hubby to come so that makes it a bit harder.

  4. There are a couple smaller ones in MN that are great Women Rock (half, full, 10K) and Women Run the Cities. Both are great and well organized :)

  5. We will have to gather a group together for the Diva Half in Myrtle Beach. This one is actually just 1 1/2 hours from my house which will be nice. I would love to run the Nike race with the Tiffany necklace as your race medal...awesome!

  7. I have run the NWM half and the Tufts 10K, both were an overall great experience. While I dont mind running with men, it is great to have the emphasis on women every once in awhile.

  8. I've done Nike Women's and didn't care for the feel of the event - I don't run to be sexy or fierce. My FAVORITE women's event is the SoCal Wine Country Women's Trail Half Marathon (a mouthful, I know).

    1) Wine and running and a good match.
    2) TRAILS, baby! I love nature, I love trails and dirt, but I loathe the insinuation of those "I'm a dirty girl" type of races.
    3) This race is small, and owned and run by a local ultra trail runner and not a major race organization. And though the race director is a dude, his goal is to encourage women to get out and experience trail running - which some are hesitant to do because venturing into remote wilderness locations alone is something we're always told NOT to do. But when you're racing with 200 other woman on the same day, those trails aren't so remote and scary anymore. I'm so excited to run this again next June!
