Counting Down to WDW Marathon Weekend!

January is usually a very blah month for me.  Christmas is one of my favorite holidays and once the decorations have been taken down, the month of January seems long and boring.  Last year was my first to participate in the WDW Marathon weekend and it was an amazing weekend.  RunDisney offered an inaugural Chip 'n Dale Marathon Relay and I was fortunate to have one of my neighbor's daughters agree to be my nutty partner!

It was an amazing weekend with loads of fun in the parks, a personal PR and it was also weekend when I had medal envy of the Goofy kind.  All those folks walking/hobbling around the parks with their Goofy medals had me in a tailspin.  I had to earn those medals.  So fast forward a year, loads of training and now I am ready to join the ranks of those runners crazy enough to run the Goofy Challenge.  The main reason for attempting this race is obviously the medals, but also to see if a 59 year old runner of 2 years can accomplish this goal.

This week has been a tough one as I have been struggling with a cold. Lots of fluids, vitamin C, Zicam and rest are helping me improve every day.  However, suffice it to say that I am busy planning every minute of our time in Florida and going over my packing multiple times.  My favorite part of packing is organizing my race day outfits and my runDisney clothing that I bring to wear when touring the parks.  My "I Did It" shirts are some of my favorite tee shirts to wear around the parks before and after my races.

Loads of Disney clothing!
You can tell it is taper time, with all my free time from long runs the obsession over packing is here!  Please let us know what you are doing to keep relaxed before the big weekend?

  4. I love the "Crazy, Crazier, Craziest" graphic! I feel the same way, getting a little stir crazy during this taper time, but I know my body needs it. I'm planning on starting to pack today...I always obsess over what to bring and what to run in (shorts? capris? tank?), so I usually just end up WAY over packing!
