Dirty Girl Mud Run

I am so excited to announce that I'm a blogger ambassador for the Dirty Girl Mud Run in Virginia Beach on April 27th!  I've always been interested in mud runs, having heard great things from friends who have tried them.  Most of the runs I've heard about have been on a local military base and have a bit of the "hard core" vibe to them...definitely not appealing to most!  A more laid back, fun, girly obstacle course?  Yes, please!

The Dirty Girl events are unique for a few reasons - they're an untimed 5k with 12 obstacles along the course; they've partnered with the National Breast Cancer Foundation; they offer free entry to any cancer survivor (neat!); it's an event for women!  I have to admit the major obstacle events (ahem Tough Mudder) don't have a strong appeal, so this is much more my speed.  The race itself is structured in waves to give ample time for people to get through the obstacles, so you sign up for a specific time, which is kind of nice.  It gives everyone the opportunity to race at a convenient time for their group.

After receiving my email that I had been invited to be an ambassador for the Virginia Beach event, I immediately started chatting with my girlfriends to try to put together a team and checked out the details for the event.  Race registration includes a Dirty Girl t-shirt and a Dirty Girl silhouette charm.  The race looks like a bit of a party atmosphere with pre and post-race entertainment and some adult beverages - yum!  I'm really looking forward to this.  Now, I just need to figure out what I'll be wearing to have all kinds of dirty, girlie fun!

Interested in trying one in your area?  This isn't an April Fool's joke - you can get 20% off your race registration too!  Just use the code DGVIRBLOGGUEST.  They have events all over the country - check out the schedule here.

Have you done a mud run?  Any tips to share?

Disclaimer: As a blogger ambassador, I was asked to post twice about the event in exchange for a free race registration.  All opinions are my own.
