My First International Race: London, England!

Next month, we will be traveling overseas with close friends to celebrate a special birthday for my friend Kathy.  When they asked us to join them on a trip to England and Paris, that includes a river cruise who could possibly say no?  So as any crazy runner would do, I started looking for an overseas race! Following a Google search and a couple emails, I received a reply from Programmes and Partnership Manager Tanya giving me the link to register for the  Super Hero Run 2013 in London, England!

The race takes place on May 19, 2013 in Regents Park, one of many beautiful parks in the city. Located in Central London, Regents Park has over 395 acres of land that includes an open air theatre, the London Zoo, a boating lake and beautiful gardens.

The Super Hero Run offers two races, a 5k and a 10k, which is two loops of the 5k course.  I chose to run the 5k because I have not run a 5k in several years and hopefully it will give me some extra time to talk with the race organizers and take some photos!  The group I will be linked with is raising money for Health Prom,  This is a UK based charity that works with women and children in Asia and Eastern Europe to help them get the best possible start in life.

Each race registration includes a superhero costume to wear for the race.  I have decided to bring my own superhero costume and of course it is a Disney themed race outfit!  Next month I will post a full recap after what should be a fun filled race day in England!
