I Scream For Ice Cream

I have a daily bowl of ice cream and it is probably an addiction.  Every evening after dinner I dive into one of my gallons of ice cream.  Right now my freezers (we have two) both have multiple gallons of ice cream in them.  I just checked and there are three gallons of ice cream in each freezer, plus two packages of Klondike bars.  My favorite flavor is coffee so there are two of those, two of peppermint stick, one vanilla and one cookies and cream. The Edy's peppermint stick tubs are leftover from the holidays.  Why? Edy's only makes this flavor once a year, and it is one of my favorites and if you serve it on top of a warm brownie it is deliciously decadent.  I like it to last until June or July and then I only have a few months to dream/think about that wonderful peppermint flavor!  My newest gallon is made by Blue Bell which only arrived here recently.  We first tried this brand when we lived in Texas back in the mid 1970's. The ice cream is one of the best, in this connoisseur's opinion, and you really should give it a try.  It was one of my favorite things about Texas and I am so pleased the company has expanded their market to include us.

Can't wait to try my new Blue Bell...thank you for coming to North Carolina!
I also bought some healthy frozen yogurt, but it has yet to be eaten!
The only living creature in my house besides me that is obsessed with ice cream is Lulu.  She can hear, despite being in a deep sleep elsewhere in the house, the sound of the freezer, and ice cream scoop.  Of course this tiny little dog is entitled to a treat too.  She waits patiently while I eat my serving and then gets two tiny tastes off my spoon.  If a dog could sigh and smile, that is what she would be doing.  It is her favorite time of day.

A happy girl with some vanilla ice cream!
Is there guilt about eating ice cream daily?  Absolutely not! I work out at least 5 days a week, and sometimes multiple times in a day.  My eating habits are generally on the healthy side and this is my one guilty pleasure of the food kind.  So three small (okay I lied) scoops at the end of the day seem the perfect way to cap off my dinner.

Do you have a naughty food obsession?  Can you stop at just a taste?

  1. I LOVE Edy's peppermint ice cream too! I stock up over the holidays :) In the summer, it's very common for me to have a bowl of ice cream...or two... a day! That's something that was passed down to me from my grandpa - and I wouldn't change it for the world!

  2. I love blue bell! I have a bowl of ice cream for dessert every day too - being in Texas I need a way to cool down from the heat lol (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it) :)

Blue bell is amazing!!! Living in TX for 6 years completely sold me on this brand. The pumpkin one that they have in the fall is just amazing. Okay, thanks for triggering my sweet tooth!

  8. Oh my gosh! When I saw that picture of Blue Bell I almost wanted to cry. I'm from Louisiana and that is the ONLY ice cream to eat in the south! You have to try the Moo-lineum Crunch (I'm sure I didn't spell that correctly!) It is SOOOO good. I live in Cincinnati now and I have to admit their Graeter's ice cream gives Blue Bell a run for their money. It is seriously good too. I feel VERY guilty about eating ice cream even though I work out too, but I'm not as little as you and really struggle with my weight. I don't deny myself it, but I do try to limit myself to just every so often. Wish I had some right now :)

    1. It is funny how ice cream lovers go crazy for Blue Bell, I can't wait for coffee to be the monthly flavor, but then we may need another freezer!

  9. Oh my goodness, this sounds EXACTLY like my husband and Madison! He has ice cream every night and when she hears the freezer she runs and sits on the couch (where he eats the ice cream) and patiently waits until he's done and she can lick the spoon and bowl! Their favorite flavors are peppermint or chocolate/ vanilla/ strawberry mix : )

I love ice cream too, but it's usually more of a summer thing for me and I go for anything chocolate and peanut butter!

  10. I had no idea that Klondike bars came in Reeses flavor, yum! We have a labrador that just loves icecream sandwiches. She comes running to the kitchen everytime she hears the freezer drawer open. Dogs must have the uncanny sense for icecream!
