Halfway through 2013

The first six months of 2013 are in the rearview mirror now and I thought it would be fun to recap what we've done so far.  Can you believe today is the first of July?  Where did the year go?

Best race experience in 2013 (Jan-June)
Christine: It's a toss up between the Walt Disney World half in January and the Shamrock Half Marathon in Virginia Beach in March.  Both were PR races.  The Elizabeth River Run 10k in May was another amazing race!
Pam: My favorite was the Goofy Challenge, which was obviously two races, but it was also my first marathon!  However, I was also thrilled to run a PR in March at the Quintiles Half Marathon in Wilmington, NC!

Worst race experience in 2013 (Jan-June)
Christine: I don't have one that was terrible, but the Princess was probably my least favorite so far due to poor race strategy, poor race execution and just not ever being able to hit my stride.
Pam:  I also would say that Princess was my least favorite for many of the reasons Christine stated.  We wanted to love it, but it just did not work out that way.

How are you feeling about your running with the year half over?

  1. Wow, you guys have definitely had a busy 1st half of the year! I have to admit I am a little behind where I had hoped I'd be with my training so far this year, but hopefully with some extra time off over the summer it'll all come together soon!

  2. Great accomplishments so far for 2013!! Woohoo! I like how you displayed the bibs with the medals. I know we all run the race just for the "run", but sometimes it stinks when you put that much effort into a race and don't even get a medal. Boo! ( or maybe it's just me that feels that way cus I like the bling). I've run one so far that didn't have a finishers medal and will probably do more just for practice though. ~ M

    1. Thank you. We love the medals too and I (Pam) was really disappointed I did not get an age group medal at my race last week since I came in second. Boo

    1. Good job Lauren. We will both be hitting at least 600 this year. I (Pam) had really small mileage for a couple months post Goofy Challenge and the training/mileage is ramping up again for fall race season!

  7. I'm impressed that you guys are able to keep your bibs so nice! Mine always look like they accidentally got put through the washing machine. Congrats on a successful half of the year!
