Why I'm excited to go to Disneyland

In exactly 4 weeks from today, I'll be on a plane bound for California to spend 5 days in Disneyland with my mama.  I'm so excited.  I know the time will go quickly between training, work and end of summer fun times, but just between us girls, I have ants in my pants to get out there in a BIG way!

Dreaming of Dumbo at Princess Half weekend
We've been preparing for this weekend for a very long time - since January to be exact when Mom registered us both for Dumbo Double Dare Challenge at the WDW Marathon weekend expo.  It's hard to believe we signed up for this adventure 8 months ago (and will be 9, come race weekend).  The good news is that gave us plenty of time to prepare and I think we are both ready for our back-to-back race weekend challenge!

This will also be my first trip to Disneyland.  I'm super excited to see the differences in rides and see Walt's first park.  I've heard that Small World, Pirates of the Caribbean, and a few other rides are totally different and I can't wait to experience that.  It's been a long time since I've been to a new-to-me theme park, that will be great.

I'm also really looking forward to seeing lots of our running buddies.  These races are a great opportunity to connect and reconnect with so many people that we've met through the blog, twitter and Facebook.  If you see us around, please say hi.  We'd love to grab a Dole Whip or grab a ride with you!

Are you heading out for Disneyland race weekend?  What are you most looking forward to?

  1. Not heading out for race weekend (boo) but I am just as excited to visit Disneyland as you are! I'm curious what both of our takes on it will be :) Can't wait to hear all about Dumbo!

  3. I'm so excited about heading out to Disneyland for Dumbo too! Although it's not my first trip there, it's the first time in 10 years and I cannot wait. Some of the rides are different, and there are some rides that they don't have in Disney World at all, but there's still that same chill you get from Disney magic there! :)

  4. Oh my gosh you are going to LOVE it! The DL Half last year was (sort of) my 1st trip (I consider it my first b/c I don't actually remember my "real" first time). I loved it so much more than I expected!

  7. Exciting weekend for you and your Mom.... Your going to love the Charm of Disneyland...and the ease of getting around....
The Castle may be the most difference due to the size...but the wonderful PINK color and working drawbridge is magical!

One month to go...and Memories made again for sure! We are excited too....only a few more long runs to go! :c)

  8. I am BEYOND excited! It's going to be my first trip to DL, as well, and I've been planning and training and getting super pumped for this trip ever since I (somewhat impulsively) registered for DDD back in January! I'm definitely looking forward to experiencing new attractions and "walk where Walt walked." I hope to see you guys around! :-D

  9. I can't wait for the race weekend to be here! It's been a long time coming and the time can't go quickly enough (well, actually it has been lately), the anticipation is crazy! Some DL rides are different than MK, Pirates, Mansion, Thunder Mountain, Space and Splash Mountain. Plus you finally get to ride the Matterhorn, one of my fave rides at DL! Don't forget California Adventure too! They have some great rides there and can easily go through the whole park in one day!

I'm looking forward to meeting all my running friends and people I've met online, it is going to be a whirlwind of a weekend and will be over quicker than we know it. The races will be a blast, I'm loving the courses! Hope to see you there!

    1. Same Karen, Since the area is small it should be easy to connect with our blogger friends too! No buses, just happy feet taking us through the parks!
