  2. So sad I didn't run in to you two, but I am pretty sure you two were showered, dressed and done with breakfast by the time I finished! Great job on your runs ladies!

    1. They must have been dying in the heat with all those layers. That race was brutally hot!

  4. Great job Pam and Christine! Your outfits for both races rocked!

And yes, we spotted Christine in the video 2 places ( and Pam too)!

Just curious, was the 10K a timed race? Did the 5K and the 10K take place at the same time? I thought I heard somewhere that it did, ( although that would be a little odd). I didn't sign up for the 5K yet for the Princess race but I was going too. Just wondering if the Glass slipper challenge schedule will mimic the Dumbo?

    1. Thanks so much. We had a blast all weekend long. The 10k was timed, but I (Pam) was super tired when I wrote this post and forget to include them. I am adding them now!

  6. You ladies are the cutest! When my mom moves closer, I am going to do everything in my power to get her to start running with me. I can't think of anything I'd like to do more. I'm so glad you had such a wonderful time.

    1. Thanks Jennifer. I must admit that I never though I would enjoy running, but doing these races with Christine has been such a wonderful experience. Good luck getting your Mom to join you for some running fun!

  7. Congrats! That heat was brutal, and I'm from Arizona! It was the humidity that killed me. I saw you ladies at DCA on Sunday, but my friend told me it would be slightly creepy to walk up and say hi :) What a fun event, can't wait to do it next year!

    1. Jessica, I wish you had said hello. Congrats on completing your races in difficult conditions! We train in humidity during the summer but never expected it to be humid in CA. What a shock considering 2 years ago when Pam ran the DL Half the weather was perfect.

    1. Thanks Jen. The temperature and humidity made it very tough to race but it was a magical weekend for sure.

  10. Terrific times, you two! I think it's so great that you run together, and I love seeing the joy in your smiles!

My then-9-year-old daughter ran with me at the WDW Family Fun Run over marathon weekend this year, and it was very special to me...it also happened to be my first RunDisney event, and I've always LOVED Disney.

This coming marathon weekend in January, my wife is joining us, and the three of us will be doing the 5K on Thursday...and then I'll be resting up for my first marathon! Besides that, though, it's so nice to see the mother/daughter bond the two of you share, and I would love to see my daughter and wife bond in the same way.

IF you're going to be down in Orlando for the Wine and Dine, let me know. I'd love my wife and daughter to meet the two of you at the Finish Line Party!

    1. Pete, thanks for the nice comments. Yes, we will be at Wine and Dine and will be celebrating at the after party with some friends that will be doing the 5k with us that morning. That is great that you are getting your daughter and wife involved in running. Hope to meet you in November!

    2. I hope so as well...I just started running again last Summer after a 25 year hiatus (college athlete turned obese smoker), and now I'm almost two years smoke free and have lost over 100 pounds.

So the first step was to find my own inner athlete again - Check!

My daughter is an athlete...already a year-round swimmer...so getting her on the road was more of just setting an example and showing her how fun running can be. In addition to competitive swimming, she's already done a kid's triathlon and is now running during recess.

Not to self promote (well, it's about my daughter), here's a blog post about her tri:

My wife, on the other hand, was never encouraged to run, and she's just taken it up this year.

I'm so happy that we as a family can enjoy running together...and I love seeing the happiness that you two share! You can't run 13.1 miles and fake those smiles!
