The Magical Disneyland 10k: Our race recap

Last Saturday, we ran the inaugural 10k at Disneyland.  This race had the Alice in Wonderland theme and runDisney went all out to include mile markers and character stops that included all our favorites from the Alice story.  As you know from watching our race costume video, this is one of Christine's favorites so it was a big hit with us!

Before the race weekend, Christine and I had decided that we would not run this race for time because we wanted to try for a good time at the half marathon the following day. Patrick, a running
friend from Atlanta, also decided to run with us as he had similar race plans.  Being in Corral A had big advantages to get into the parks and to see the characters before the lines got too long.  The three of us trotted through the streets of Anaheim, Disneyland and California Adventure and had a blast!  We'll let the photos do the talking for the fun times of this race.
Ready to head to the starting line...we can't be late!

Oops we missed the mile 2 marker and the white rabbit is running late!

Can you tell we're having fun?!

This view was so great in an empty park!

Don't forget it all started with a mouse!

Main Street - always amazing!

Doubt we'll ever get another opportunity to have an unobstructed photo with the castle!

It's a small world after all...

These guys were hilarious!

Hey look, it's Joey Fatone (green shirt in center of photo)!

These two gals were looking quite a bit more glamorous than us at this point!

So pretty

Despite the heat, it was a beautiful morning

Our reward for 6.2 fun miles!
We decided that we have had some of our most fun races when we gallivant through the parks taking lots of photos.  Up next...the half marathon and the quest for some PRs!

    1. There is no bling quite like the medals earned at the runDisney race. Can't wait to see what they have for the Glass Slipper Challenge!

  10. Your castle picture came out great! I need to try to get a good one next time! I really had a great time going slow and taking lots of pics at the 10k...the way I look at it is may as well get my money's worth out of a runDisney race, I can run for time at any race!

    1. Exactly Danielle! Run for time at the non runDisney events and get your money's worth and spend loads of time in the parks for the Disney races!

  12. My friend and I had the exact same approach, and had a blast -- What a great first runDisney experience! I actually saw you ladies at a bit of a distance, but didn't get a chance to say hi. Perhaps in January? I'm registered for the full marathon -- my first! Yikes!

  13. Love the pictures! You look like you all had so much fun! I love the plan of stopping for photos during the 10k. We didn't do the 10k so we stopped during the half for photos. I almost got swept! Next year, I'm following your plan for sure :) thank you for all your posts. Once I decided to do a runDisney event, your blog and Facebook were the first I found. You made this journey so exciting!

    1. Thanks for the kind comments Jessica. Stopping for photos works is loads of fun, but the sweepers are always something to keep in mind!
