Dopey Celebration.....a Cruise!

This is week 15 of the Galloway training plan for the Walt Disney World Marathon weekend Dopey Challenge.  The training plan has 29 weeks to prepare for the 4 days of racing through WDW and that means we are more than halfway through!

Last year, Tom came to cheer on Christine and me for our races during the January weekend in Florida.  This year, he has decided to stay home since it will not be very fun to be in a room where the morning wake up calls are around 3:00-4:00am for 4 consecutive days.  Plus, we will need rest between races and that would not be too exciting either.  So.....Tom wanted us to plan a vacation and there just happened to be a cruise leaving two days after the Dopey Challenge from Miami.  Of course I am onboard with this idea and just this week we made the deposit and will be enjoying ten relaxing nights in the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean.  Sadly it will not be a Disney cruise, but it will still be a fabulous way to celebrate the completion of all those races!
2007- our last Caribbean cruise!
We love to travel and this trip will give me loads of recovery time and a chance to wear my race medals daily.  Won't they look great at dinner time?  If I bring just a couple black dresses, I can spiff them up with the awesome medals from the Dopey Challenge.  What are you doing to celebrate your race weekend in January?

  3. I LOVE cruises! Total cruise-a-holic here. Our 2 vacations every year are a trip to Disney (ok, multiple trips to Disney) and a cruise! Have soooooooooooooo much fun! And those medals just scream "wear me at formal night!" Plus, if I earned all that bling, I don't think I'd ever take it off. Good luck and enjoy!

  4. That will definitely be a great way to relax after 4 days of races! Will Tom be flying down to meet you or is this just a girls trip? After joining us for the past several years for the Disney PHM weekend, my dad decided to sit this next trip out for the same reason Tom has! Enjoy!

  7. Haha, medals do make the perfect accessory!

I'll be spending Monday after the races at Disney and then heading home Tuesday morning - I was tempted to fly home Sunday after the full since it's my husband's birthday and he can't come on the trip, I feel so bad being away for his birthday!

We are planning a celebration dinner at California Grill though!

  9. So much fun, Pam! We love cruising...it's the quickest way to see lots of places in one trip! :0) Oddly enough, we just booked a cruise in part with my parents leaving the Monday after Princess! What a fun way to celebrate a post-race accomplishment (in your case, post-races)!

    1. Thanks Karen. I also love cruising and so does Tom. I know you will have a wonderful time with your parents. Tom and I took 4 or 5 cruises with my parents before Dad passed away. They gave us wonderful memories!
