Beach Club and Epcot Fun

We tried several new things on our recent trip to Walt Disney World, starting with a stay at the Beach Club Resort. Our room was situated several floors above the lobby and the location was perfect.  We had easy access to the hotel amenities and our spacious room was great for four women on a race vacation.  With two queen beds and a day bed, there was ample sleeping space with a great bathroom area featuring two sinks. This is always important for proper primping on race day! Staying at at a hotel that gave you flexibility to walk to not one but two parks was also a huge plus. Immediately upon arrival Thursday, Christine and I left the property for a short walk to the International Gateway to have a nice evening of fun at Epcot!

Gorgeous day and our first view of the backside of the property!
We had time to spare before our dinner reservations at Chefs de France, so we started our park visit with a few rides in Future World.  Of course we had to visit Figment, knowing that his time at the park is limited due to prospective renovations to the pavilion.

Cute little purple dragon!
After four or five rides, we headed to our restaurant for a delightful meal.  we were seated quickly and immediately got excited about the menu choices. First choice was beverages and when in France.....

Of course the wine is from France!
We both choose the Prix Fixe three course menu and started with French Onion soup and a salad.  The main dishes all sounded delicious and we made the decision to share the broiled salmon with smashed potatoes and baked macaroni and cheese with cream and gruyere cheese.  The portions were quite large so we had  no problem sharing the meals. We rounded out the meal with mouth watering profiteroles and not much was left on our plates!  Can you tell we love pre race fueling? This was our first visit to this restaurant we will definitely be returning on future trips.  The atmosphere, professional wait staff and quality food choices made it a very pleasurable experience.  After such a filling meal, we chose to walk around a bit and ran into the lovely nutritionist for runDisney, Tara Gidus. We had a brief visit but did not let her know we were working off a rather decadent dinner!

Do you have a favorite restaurant at Walt Disney World?

  1. I love staying at the Boardwalk/ Beach Club resort area, it's just so nice being able to walk to 2 of the parks - especially during the Food & Wine Festival! And I've always really liked Chefs de France, I'm just sad Remy isn't there any more : (

    1. I think that area may be our new favorite place to stay. The convenience is really good, although the Polynesian is also a favorite of ours, especially with Dole Whips close by!

    2. I would be in serious trouble if I stayed at Poly - I would definitely end up having multiple Dole Whips a day!

  4. That is so fun trying new things at Disney! I tried to do at least 5 things I've never done before. I don't know if I quite made it because I always go back to my old favorites ( resorts, rides, and restaurants)!

  5. Sounds like a yummy restaurant! Out of the places in EPCOT I have tried so far, I really enjoy the pizza in Italy and the caramel popcorn in Germany!
