Changing Corrals at a runDisney Race

When registering for a runDisney race, proof of time is required for corral placement.  Many runners, especially newer runners, have a better projected finish time by the time race day rolls around. For a half marathon a race distance of 10K or longer is required as proof of time.  The marathon registration requires a race distance of 10 miles or longer.   Prior to 2014, it was very easy to bring your proof of time to the race expo runner relations booth and a race representative would verify your time and put a sticker on your bib with your new corral.  Christine and I have used this process several times.  At the Dumbo Challenge in California I was switched to a new corral.

3 Trips to the Expo and the bib had the correct corral!

Christine has changed corrals several times and most recently at the Donald Half Marathon in January.
The pink sticker on her bib shows the new corral!
At the Wine and Dine expo next week, both of us will be bringing proof of time since we both had some fast local races prior to race registration for the Wine and Dine half marathon.  If you need to do this, be sure to bring a proof of time from a race that was less than 2 years ago that will qualify you for a new corral.

Here is the information from the runDisney website regarding Wine and Dine corral placement:

Corral and Bib Assignment
  • Each runner will be issued a bib number at Packet Pick-Up. It is the responsibility of the runner to wear the bib during the race.
  • If a runner is seen without their bib number while running on the course, they will be removed from the course for security and safety reasons.
  • Please remember to fill out the Emergency Medical Information on the back of the bib number.
  • The letter on your race number will determine your assigned corral. Letters are assigned based on your estimated finishing time.
  • In order to change your assigned corral, please bring proof of your estimated finish time to the Runner Relations booth after you pick up your race bib at the Health & Fitness Expo.

In January, there will no longer be an option to change corrals at the expo.  Each race will have a date that is the cutoff for corral changes.  You can send an email to the following address: disneysports@trackshack.com

The Glass Slipper Challenge and Princess Half Marathon have a cutoff date in early December and here are those details from the runDisney website:

New 2014 runDisney proof of time guidelines:
If you believe you will finish the Half Marathon in less than 3:15 hours, proof of time is required for start corral placement. Glass Slipper Challenge participants should adhere to Half Marathon proof of time requirements. Please reference the Pacing Requirements below for finish times and associated pacing per mile.

A proof of time must be provided from a certified race reflecting results after February 1, 2012.

  • Half Marathon - 10K or longer

A valid proof of time provided at the time of registration must include the following*:
  • Name of Race
  • Distance
  • City
  • State
  • Date
  • Finish time

*For example, Walt Disney World Half Marathon, 13.1, Orlando, FL, 1/12/13, - 2:05

If you do not have a proof of time to submit, list "N/A" at the point of registration. If proof of time is not provided by December 1, 2013 you will be placed in the last start corral. If your proof of time data is incomplete or cannot be verified, you will be placed in the last start corral. To provide or update your proof of time, you must email all proof of time data requested above to disneysports@trackshack.com. No corral changes will be made after December 1, 2013.

Do you need to visit runner relations for Wine and Dine?  If so, see you there!

  1. Great info, and congrats to you both for running speedier times for better corral placement! I probably should change corrals the opposite way for Wine and Dine next week - I registered before I got pregnant and am much slower now ha.

  2. Great info! I had to dig around for this information a few months ago when I submitted a new time for Wine and Dine Half. I know it's silly but I was really excited to move up a few corrals. I was in "E" for PHM when my estimated finish time was 3 hours. I cut off 45 mins and my PR is 2:15:16 and I am still in "E"! I know it's because of logistics and the number of runners, etc. Maybe "E" will just be my new runDisney place :) :)

    1. Karen, I freaked when I was moved to B for the Dumbo Challenge, but now I realize that runDisney is making the race safer and more pleasant for everyone by making the corrals much smaller. By the way, congrats on your big PR at Princess....that is wonderful!

  3. If you provided proof of time at registration should you assume every things ok? Would they contact you if for some reason they couldn't verify your info? Runners worries...

    1. I am sure you are fine if you provided proof with registration. I plan to bring my proof and registration information with me to runDisney races next year, just in case there is a mixup. If you earned a corral placement and the race organizers by accident type the wrong number i.e. 2:45 instead of 1:45, the corral difference would be huge.

  4. Congrats to each of you for improving your times! I finally got my 10K time under an hour last weekend at Wicked so that is what I sent to Disney as my proof of time. According to corral placement last year ( I was hoping that my time would get me in corral C), but like you said, they are really thinning out the corrals and making more of them. So my theory is this, the further back in the corrals I am, the better my pictures will turn out because I will have more daylight to run in, right? My sister is always in Corral A and by the time she gets to run through MK it is still dark. Not me, I'll have nice sunny pictures on main street! ~M

    1. We have never run through MK when it was light outside, and I doubt you will either....I am happy that they have made the corrals smaller, even though we have been moved back like most everyone. The race course will be much easier to navigate! See you next week at runner relations!

  6. I changed corrals at Marathon Weekend...it was super easy. I'm kind of sad to see this option going away. I understand why, but still kinda sad. Have fun at Wine and Dine!!
