Jingle Jungle 5k - A fun run through Animal Kingdom

We decided to sign up for the Jingle Jungle 5k for one reason.  We love Christmas and knew it would be a really fun race and medal.  Who else signs up for races for the bling?  With friends along for their first 5k and runDisney race, we knew it would be a really fun morning!

Santa Minnie's ready to run!
After a car ride to the Animal Kingdom parking lot, we quickly found our way to the area that had stages set up for pre race photos!

Our friends running their first 5K:  Suzann, Meghan, Pam and Kathy

After the photos, we decided to make our way over to the starting corral to wait for the race to begin!

the weather was perfect for an early race morning!

Entering Animal Kingdom after the parking lot run!

Our favorite Winnie the Pooh characters: Tigger and Piglet under the tree at AK

Mile one marker!

Baloo was happy to pose with us!

Terk dressed up for the runners!

Mile 2 and still having fun!

Pluto had quite a festive hat!

Donald was fabulous in his snowflakes!

Loved seeing our pals Chip and Dale!

Post race we could not resist our favorite mice for a photo op!

It was a great morning of fun but the race went by far too quickly.  We enjoyed every photo stop and finished in a little over 30 minutes.  These races are so much fun that we can't wait for January when we will have another opportunity to run a Disney 5k! Do you sign up for the 5k races during the runDisney race weekends?

    1. My friends had fun, but since they really are just walkers I am not sure if they would do it again. Christine and I had a blast though!

  2. I'm still regretting not doing this one! I love the Christmas theme and all the characters in their holiday gear! Your outfits were great too (although I'm sure warm!). Next year if I do Wine & Dine I'm going to do the 5k for sure!

    1. It was fun Danielle, but both of us were quite tired for the night race. We probably spent too much time on our feet Saturday, but it was great to do both races.

    2. Yeah, having one race early in the morning and one late at night makes for a long day!

  3. This looks like so much fun! I wish I had done it! But I don't know how 2 races in 1 day would've gone...maybe next year! :) And, as always, your outfits/costumes are fantastic!

    1. Kellie, as long as you have no time goals, doing 2 races in one day is not a problem. Most runners don't try to PR at runDisney events anyway!

  7. I signed up for the 5k at both Tinkerbell and Princess. I just found the idea of them a nice fun run a couple days before the half. And the extra bling doesn't hurt. ;)

  11. This was my first Disney 5K! I thought I'd be tired for the Half after, but it really didn't affect me that much! Loved your costumes!

    1. Meredith, We were tired at night for the wine and dine half, but probably because we were on our feet a little more than we needed to be after the race....Hollywood Studios was probably not a great idea!

  13. I'll be running the Family Fun Run 5K with Michelle and Mary over marathon weekend...this was my first (and Mary's first) runDisney race this past January, and it was a blast. Now Michelle gets to join us this coming January...unfortunately, she suffered a stress fracture right before the race this year...but this coming January, it will truly be a Family Fun Run!

Congrats for making it through the 5K in the morning and the Half at night! I almost did the same thing, but I opted not to because I was nervous that I would expend too much energy in the a.m.

  16. Your outfits are SO awesome - I adore those skirts! I didn't do the 5k (figured I would conserve my energy since I'd never done a night race) but I love seeing everyone's pictures so much! Looks like this one was a lot of fun - maybe I can talk my husband and kids into doing a runDisney 5k next time. :)
