Training Tuesday: After Dopey

I'm back home today and settling back into my normal routine.  I'd be lying if I didn't tell you that I am exhausted and wishing I had taken another day to recuperate.  I'll be including that in my list of recommendations for others considering the Dopey Challenge for next year!  After 4 early mornings and lots of running, I'm just plain old tired!

Many of you have asked us about what's next.  After running 48.6 miles, we definitely need some rest. We have both decided on two weeks of no running.  We'll be doing some light exercise, but nothing overly strenuous.  My plan is some swimming, biking and yoga.  My right hip is a bit sore - likely some stress on my already irritated piriformis.  I struggle with this muscle regularly and no doubt that 48.6 miles over 4 days irritated it a little bit more!  So for that, I'll be doing lots of stretching and foam rolling.

I am still riding the high of this weekend - it's hard to believe it's over and we'll be reliving it a bit in our race recaps coming later this week!

How are you recovering from marathon weekend?

  2. We left our hotel at 8am FL time yesterday morning and walked through the front door at 8pm CA time last night. The travel is more exhausting than the running. I have to go to work today also, but I only ran the half this time. I hope you don't have too rough a day! Congratulations on finishing!

  6. I'm actually jumping back on the horse and running a very easy three miles during lunch today - in about an hour. That said, I "just" ran the marathon and the 5k...so you had two more races than I did...and 19.3 miles more.

    Rest up!

  10. Enjoy your rest! Glad I'm not the only one who is desperate for some "time off." I wanted to give myself at least a couple of days without running and then see how I felt. Congrats to you guys! :)
