Friday Five - Some fun questions and my answers!

The Liebster award seems to make it's way around the internet about once a year, and after several nominations, I decided to answer a few of the questions that I thought were interesting and fun.  Thanks everyone who nominated us, and here are a few tidbits that you might not know about me!

1.  What is your greatest accomplishment to date?
Some might not consider this an accomplishment, but I have been married for nearly 39 years to my best friend.  I am a very lucky girl!

On safari in Africa!

2.  What is at the top of your race bucket list?
This is an easy one.  The Boston Marathon has been at the top of my list since I ran my first full marathon in January 2013.  It was then that I thought I had a chance to qualify and starting working very hard to make it happen.  I will running Boston in 2015 with my sister and I cannot wait!

On my way to a BQ!

3.  What is the best piece of advice you ever received?
My father taught us to always finish what you start.  It's okay to not rejoin or decline an invitation, but if you make a commitment, follow it through. Never ever quit!

4.  What is your favorite song on your music playlist?
Sad but true, Katy Perry's Roar.  It got me through my March marathon and I think I may have played that song at least 15 times during the race!

5.  Other than running, what are some of my hobbies?
I love to swim, walk Lulu, sew, read and attempt to play golf.

Now it's your turn.  Pick one of the questions above and answer it in the comments below!

  3. I have been married a lot less years but can agree that being married 39 years is an accomplishment to be proud of!

I also love the song Roar and as you could probably tell from some costumes I make, I like to sew as well. Here's a little unknown fact, did you know I use to teaching a sewing class to middle schoolers and a fashion design class to high school students? Have a great weekend! -M

  7. No hating on Roar here! I've only been married to the hubby for almost three years, but it's definitely the smartest BFF thing I ever did!

  8. 39 years of marriage is a wonderful accomplishment, and should be celebrated! Congrats to you guys :) I love that advice from your dad – I was taught (and feel) the same way. Always follow through on a commitment, but if it's something you don't enjoy, you just have to finish out the season/year, and then you don't have to sign up again.

Other hobbies for me include knitting, reading, and... does snuggling my dogs count? ;)

    1. Heather, snuggling with a dog definitely counts as a hobby. Unfortunately, Lulu snuggles with Tom 90% of the time. It's okay though, I manage with my 10%!

  9. Yeah for the 39 years - 17 here! I love photography and my current biggest hobby (aside from running) is homeschooling my four crazy boys. They have started running, too!
