Friday Fun - Trick or Treat bags for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party!

Attending the various holiday parties at the Magic Kingdom is a great way to celebrate the season with your friends and family.  With Christine having a birthday next week, I thought a little visit to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party would be the perfect way to celebrate her birthday. And trick or treating at the most magical place on earth will be fun!

We decided that costumes were not going to be part of our party dress, but wearing something a little festive would be fun.  I found these tee shirts at Target and they are perfect, since Mickey's body lights up in the dark!

Missing out on the candy was not going to happen, especially after my travel agent friend Megan told me it was perfectly acceptable to trick or treat with the kids.  The last time I went trick or treating was when I lived in Boston during my freshman year in college and honestly the homeowners were not impressed by a bunch of college students trying to take their candy.  I think we made it to two homes and then got up to something else for the evening!

I thought making cute bags for the party would be fun, so I pulled out some Halloween fabric from my stash, made a template for a Mickey head and got busy.  A couple hours later, voila!  We are now ready to make a big haul in Magic Kingdom on October 3rd!

Have you ever gone trick or treating as an adult?  What about Mickey's Not so Scary Halloween party....have you been? Tips?

  1. I went last Friday with my family for my 40th birthday and we dressed up as characters from Toy Story - so much fun! It rained most of the night, but it was still a great time. And yes, adults get candy with no shame :) Go to the party early if you can. Even though it officially starts at 7pm, the will let you in and give you a party wrist band starting at 4pm. We went in and had dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern at 5:30 so we finished just as the party started. It looked like most people were going to get candy first, so the lines were long. If you wait to do that a little later in the evening you will still get plenty without the long wait. I'm sure our night was a little less crowded because of the rain, but they still had a TON of candy at the end of the night (they were giving out handfuls at a time!) You will have a great time! We loved it. And an early Happy Birthday to Christine!

  7. I love the Halloween party! We usually dress up (my sister and I have gone as Flounder and Sebastian, Buzz and Woody, and Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum) and it's a lot of fun. The decorations are beautiful, the fireworks are great, and if you're a haunted mansion fan this is the time to be in the park (I don't think it was last year but usually throughout the park you have you Ghost Host). Be on the lookout for people in AMAZING costumes! I mean, insanely gorgeous/beautiful/perfect replicas of Disney characters.

  11. OMGosh, you two are going to look so cute with those shirts glowing in the dark and the adorable bags! I went to MNSSHP last year for the first time and LOVED it! Like another commenter said, get there at 4pm. The park will still be crowded but you may be able to grab a fast pass or two before they stop doing them (You can't get fast passes during the party). The lines for trick or treating will be very long at first and filled with the younger kids so just use that time to ride rides and see the decorations. The crowds will thin out later in the evening so you'll have plenty of time for candy and more rides if you stay until the end. And they will give it to you by the handfuls. Hope those bags are "bigger on the inside!" Have a great time! Can't wait for the recap.

  15. Even though I'm not running Tower of Terror, we'll all be at Disney that weekend. If you see Mr. Smee (me!) with Jake (Eli), Captain Hook (Erik) and Izzy (my mom) make sure to say hi! We're doing MNSSHP on the 3rd too! We'll try to leave some candy for you ;)
