Compression Gear SL3S review and giveaway

Disclosure: Christine and I each received a pair of compression sleeves or socks from SL3S. No compensation was received for this post and as always, the opinions stated here are our own.

Marathon and half marathon training is no joke and one of the things we have used for recovery is compression socks.  They keep the blood flowing and honestly, our legs feel so much better after wearing them post long run.  My history with compression socks started when we lived overseas and to avoid DVT, I wore them on all my airline flights.  Of course they were not snazzy socks, but drugstore variety in basic black.  Fast forward to when I became the #oldladyrunner and recovery from long runs became a priority.  While there is no firm evidence that compression aids recovery, this article has an interesting perspective based on a very difficult ultra race held in South Africa.

When we received an email from SL3S asking us to test their compression leg wear, we studied the website.  Several things stood out to us, and probably the deciding factor was the quality of the products that are designed by triathletes who wanted better quality clothing and accessories.  Not all compression are made equal and one of the special features of the SL3S is the graduated compression. When I received my socks, I could not wait to take them out of the box and give them a try after one of my long runs.  Fast forward a month and I have worn them after every long and most recently my 22 miler.  They are very comfortable and slightly longer than other compression socks that I own.  Sized by calf measurements, I chose extra small and they are a good fit. In the case of compression wear, sizing up is probably a good idea since the clothing/socks are a tight fit.

Post 22 miles, legs up and SL3S on!

Some notable details about the company: Sylvie and Sebastian Linke started the company in 2004 and offered four items, a triathlete suit, top, bottoms and compression socks.  Over the years, they have expanded into many more choices still keeping the quality and fit at the forefront.  If we ever delve into the triathlete arena, we would certainly choose some of their gear. All of the items they sell are created by them for athletes with most of the production done in the US. Check out their website here.

Now for the fun part!  SL3S has graciously offered a discount code to you for 40% the compression socks or sleeves.  The code: werundisney40. ( as always, there is no compensation to us if you choose to make a purchase but we are happy to pass along a generous discount provided to us by the company)  Be sure to enter the giveaway for your chance to win a pair of socks or sleeves in your size and color choice!

    1. That is exactly the reason that we were willing to test the socks, made by triathletes who want good quality gear!
