What's next now that Boston is over?

For the past six months and possibly longer, I have been focused on the Boston Marathon.  Now that April 20th is the rear view mirror, it is time to make new goals and plan for the rest of 2015.  I'm excited to be running alot of new races in the next few months and actually racing a 5k for the first time in over a year.  So what is on my calendar?

1.  Pixie Dust Challenge:  This Friday, Christine and I are flying to California to participate in the first challenge race during the Tinkerbell race weekend.  The 10k on Saturday will be followed by the half marathon Sunday and we are very excited to be running both the races.  We also will earn our first pink coast to coast challenge medal.

10k, half, Pixie Dust Challenge and Coast to Coast medals!

2.  The girls in my running group have signed up as a team for the Wilma Dash, a women's 5k in downtown Wilmington in late May.  Most of the group will be wearing pink tutus with the Without Limits logo tank top.  However, I have opted out of the tutu but will be sporting the team tank!  I am leaving the tutus for the younger ladies on my team!

3.  Blueberry Festival 5k in Burgaw:  I just heard about this race from Lynda while running yesterday and again, a group of us from the running group are planning to sign up and enjoy a lovely Saturday morning in this quaint little town.  There is a cute breakfast place where we will have breakfast and hopefully lots of bacon after completing the 5k!

4.  NYC Marathon:  The big fall race on my calendar is the NYC Marathon and I am very excited to be running this one in early November.  As per my coach's plan, this will be a very slow marathon, but hopefully a PR in fun.

5.  Richmond Marathon weekend, 8k  I ran this race last year, while visiting Richmond, specifically to cheer Christine on in the marathon.  This year, a big group of girls from my running group plan to run the assorted races, including Roxanne running the full, Lynda running the half, Holly and myself running the 8k and hopefully a few others joining the fun.

So far this is my race calendar for the remainder of 2015.  I know there will be a few others added to the list.  What is the big race on your calendar this year?

  1. Our next race is also the pixie dust challenge. This will be our first Coast to Coast. I have to say that i'm not really impressed with that pixie dust challenge medal. It doesn't look as though the designers put much thought into the design.

My plan is to take it very easy this summer and really concentrate on recovery and then start marathon training when I feel I am strong enough. -M

    1. I think PDC will be really fun. And both Christine and I love DL, probably more than WDW because you don't have to rely on transportation.

  5. Wow, it sounds like you've got a lot of fun stuff coming up! I love the idea of a PR in fun :) I'm not going to make it to Richmond this year but I loved all the energy around that race weekend. That's nice that you're going to be able to do it again.

    1. Darlene I feel so bad for you dealing with the foot pain. I hope it is just a very minor thing that improves very quickly.

  7. I started off with three halfs and a 15K in the first three months of this year. I have Tink next week and then the only other thing on the calender is the Portland Half Marathon in October. I may add a Halloween race, but at this point, I'm happy to dial it back a little this year. I'd love to do the NYC Marathon!

    1. You had a full race calendar the first few months of the year. I am excited to be trying some new races this year. Actually, every single race for 2015 (so far) is a new one except Princess and Richmond.

    1. Jamie I am trying to run the Mickey Marathon in January fast! So a November marathon needs to either not be on the calendar or super slow. Advice from my coach!

  11. The never land 5k is up next, watching my aunt and friend in the 10k and my son in the kids run. Sticking with fun and slow 5ks while in. Lyme treatment. After Tinkerbell I'll be visiting family in MA and doing the color run in Gilette stadium.

  12. I so hope I "run" into you ladies this weekend during PDC. I feel like I am the only one that likes the PDC medal. it relates to all of the powers of the different fairies and it is huge!

My race schedule is pretty clear all summer minus a 4th of july 5k and an 80s run (it is back to the future theme!), then Dumbo and a long break until NYCM, wine and dine 5k and half, and infinity challenge. the races I am most looking forward to are DL half (my 5 year runniversary!), NYCM and wine and dine half.

  15. Good luck in the Pixie Dust challenge. I'm very envious of those medals! I hope to run a half somewhere during the summer...but this will depend on vacation plans. There are a few local 5ks sprinkled around on the calendar but the Chicago marathon is my next "big" race.

  16. Sounds like a great plan! Jealous that you are running NYC!! I need to do that one someday. Next big thing will be MCM for me again in the fall! Have a great time at Disneyland!

  17. Sounds like you've got a lot of awesome races coming up! So jealous you guys are going to DL, I LOVE that Pixie Dust medal! I always feel a little lost after I've finished a big goal race -- I have no idea what to do with myself, lol -- and immediately need to start planning the rest of my racing year. Hope to see you in NYC this November! :-D
