Arranging a wedding morning fun run

If you follow us on the blog or Facebook, you know that Christine will be getting married in less than two weeks.  With a 4 pm wedding, what better way to start the day than a run with your girlfriends and relatives.   Planning a fun run has been easy with help from some of the girls who will be running around with us.

Christine's attire was one of the most fun things to organize and my crafting skills have been put to the test.  And when I told her recently she only needed to bring her socks and sneakers she asked, "Is this going to be a naked run?".  Hardly, but I am not giving any clues as to her attire.  Also, her protective friends who need to keep her hidden from Adam will be in appropriate attire for wedding day.

Because Virginia Beach is not a place where I have spent much time running, I called upon the assistance of the B and B management to give me suggestions and a route for running.  They were extremely helpful so that detail has been taken care of. But since I worry,  the day before our run, Tom will join me for a walk around the area so I know exactly where we are going.  C's wedding day is no time to get lost on a run.

A post run snack is really not necessary after just a 5k, but my baking skills will be in action for a few little treats!  Of course the usual items like water bottles, Gatorade and fruit will also be available.

Most of all, I want this to be a fun stress relieving run to start the day for all the girls.  And should the day be rainy, we might just have to sing in the rain and run anyway.

Have you ever planned a fun run?  Any tips of some fun extras to include?

  2. My girls are having their b'not mitzvah in September so I relate to how hard the planning of such things is! Do you still have time to get t-shirts done for runners that say something like "I ran to Christine's wedding" and the date? Or water bottles? Usually local vendors can turn things around quickly. How about an email to Jeff Galloway to see if you can get an autographed picture with good wishes for Christine? Regardless, nice job mom and good luck!

  3. Sounds like so much fun! Maybe you can make her a "race bib" for the #weddingday5k! C's race number could be her wedding date 61315 ;)

  5. I love Karen's idea above! Also, you could have special labels made for the water bottles and perhaps special wrappers for some protein bars. We had personalized wrappers made for Candy bars at our wedding. This sounds like it's going to be a blast!

  9. This sounds like such a fun way to start the wedding day! Definitely a great stress reliever. That's a good plan to walk the course a bit the day before to get a better idea of it. You're right that getting lost would be a bad idea for that day :)

  10. This is such a fun idea! Just be careful on the road! Last summer I went out for a run the morning of a wedding I was a bridesmaid in, I tripped on an uneven part of the sidewalk and fell face first. Ended up take a chunk of skin out of my palm, scrapped my knee and elbow. Thank goodness I didn't hit my face! Now you ladies are probably not as clumsy as I am, but be careful!

  15. I am really loving this idea, ever since you mentioned it I just thought it was awesome!
Oh ya, get that course down, you definitely don't want to have the bride get lost on her run on the wedding day, the fiance probably doesn't want a Runaway Bride:) lol I know not the greatest joke:)
Good luck on the rest of the planning for it though!
